I feel like Wagamama is the ‘Marmite’ of restaurant chains, people either Love it or Hate it. I personally, Love it! Having been to multiple of their locations, I am certain the experience is similar throughout. It’s a quick-meal kind of place, where your food arrives as soon as it is ready, you might be halfway through your main when your sides arrive, or there might be a few minutes difference between the arrival of your meal and your companions’; this is part of their narrative and a fact you are told when you are sat down.
Wagas (surely we all use this nickname?) introduced me to Seitan with their Vegatsu Curry, one of the first vegan dishes they adapted, which makes sense as the actual Katsu Curry is one of their best sellers. I personally find the Vegatsu delicious, it is crispy and juicy with all the right flavours in every bite. They also serve a full-veggie version the Yasai Katsu Curry, but I would pick Vegatsu out of the two, every time.
The Yasai Pad Thai is another favourite of my repertoire, it is however, missing the peanuts! Wagamama don’t add peanuts to any of their Pad Thai recipes, I don’t know why… I still enjoy eating it though.

Another noodle recommendation is the Yasai Yaki Soba, it is a lovely vegetable stir fry with crispy shallots. There’s something quite familiar about this meal, it has a Wednesday night kind-of feeling.
The Yasai Gyoza is a safe side to consider, I find it O.K., I would prefer it if it was deep-fried and had a crunch when I bit into it. I know, not the healthiest craving.
If you take anything away from this post, please let it be this: Don’t pass on tasting the Mixed Mushroom and the ‘Vegan Chicken’ Steamed Buns, they are fantastic and to be honest, two isn’t enough!
I really appreciate having a whole menu to select from (even if I do tend to get the same over and over). It has to be one of the easiest places to go if you’re a vegan with at least eight to ten mains for you to choose from, a plethora of starters and best of all, they keep adding options, so this post will likely always be out of date!
