Port Douglas
Whilst in Port Douglas, I spent most days out at sea doing different tours of the Great Barrier Reef, lunches were mainly sandwiches with Hummus and veggies, they weren’t very exciting. So finding good spots for dinner in Port Douglas was essential. Here are the places that stood out for me…
- The Mexican – I went twice during our stay in Port Douglas. they had really good tacos.
- Osprey’s – This restaurant is located in Thala Beach resort. It is absolutely beautiful and the service was excellent. And yes, the food was amazing. They have several vegan options you can choose from, I think you’ll be happily impressed!
- Daintree Ice Cream – O.K this isn’t a restaurant, but when I went to Daintree Rainforest, the tour guide stopped by to get ice creams. They had sorbet’s without Dairy, so I didn’t miss out on tasting the exotic fruitiness.
Sydney
I was lucky to be hosted by friends so I had a good experience of outdoor family eating. But of course, I also made the time to have a few meals out. As expected, there was an abundance in Sydney of Vegan options. Even Hungry Jack’s (Burger King) had a vegan burger, and of course I tried it. It was only O.K, but I would still be happy for it come come to the UK. Anyway, here are the more interesting places I ate at:
- Vida Store Surf Cafe – Right off Bondi Beach, get yourself the Vegan Brekkie!
- Hugos in Manly Beach – The wait time is worth it. Specially if you get a table facing the water. This might not be ideal for locals as they are possibly used to the view, but for me it was lovely. I helped myself to a delicious pizza and swapped for vegan cheese.
- Fratelli Fresh – I went to the Bridge Street location and had a Margherita with vegan cheese. It was a nice meal. It’s one of those places that are safe, you know you will have a good meal for a decent price.
