What a wonderful Country! New Zealand is an absolute gem, the nature is incredible and the wine delectable! They have a lot to offer in terms of vegan options, here are a few spots that were memorable to me… including Nando’s, Yes, that Nando’s. They serve a vegan patty it’s actually tasty!
Auckland
- I enjoyed a lovely curry at White and Wongs (also available in Queenstown). I went to their Harbour location, it was nice to sit by the water and people watch…
- Maybe this is not a restaurant but I went on a tour of Hobbiton and was so happy with the lunch provided! It was a buffet with a large amount of vegan options, not limited to sides or carbs!
Wellington
- I find that it’s very easy to get a vegan option in a Mexican restaurant which is why I was happy to go to Flying Burrito Brothers on Cuba Street whilst walking around. And it turned out to be a good choice. Make sure you ask for no cheese!
- Following on the Mexican theme, if you’re looking for a good cocktail, authentic nachos and other smaller bites, get yourself to “El Culo del Mundo”. The name is funny because it’s a common phrase in Latin America when referring to a place which is really far away…
Queenstown
- I promise I do branch out and try different cuisines when I travel, but I went to NZ halfway through a month long holiday and was craving “home-y” food so when I saw Caribe Latin Kitchen in Queenstown I couldn’t pass the opportunity to eat an arepa, and neither should you!
- After a morning hike and an afternoon of wine tasting I had an absolute delicious selection of tacos from the Taco Medic. Back then they were a food truck but now they have an actual store.
