The Glade at Sketch

Sketch is one of those places in London you see on Instagram at least once a week, mainly because the decor is so aesthetically pleasing, it makes for a great backdrop. I have been wanting to go for years, and it took a year-long pandemic lockdown to get me to actually book it. As I was going for lunch, I booked a table at The Glade – a natural/mossy styled dining room.

For lunch, they have a sample menu that changes regularly, you can get two or three courses. I knew in advance that I would be safe for Vegan options, in fact their whole menu is either Vegetarian or Vegan. What I didn’t expect was for it to be so easy. I ordered two Vegan options for starter and for main, and so they brought me – without me asking – Vegan bread and butter, a Vegan amuse bouche, and said they would ensure the trio of desserts (yep, three desserts) would be Vegan. Is it strange that it made me so happy not to have to constantly ask for the vegan alternatives?

The food was delicious, I had a salad as a first dish, followed by delicious Gnocchi and then the trio of desserts… I thought I would get three mini portions, but they were generous portions… a rhubarb crumble, chocolate mousse and berry sorbet! It was such a lovely experience overall, I wanted it to start again even before I left.
