Mallow

Brought to us by the team behind Mildreds, around the corner from Borough Market, Mallow serves a mix of dishes from around the world. Whether the dish is Italian, Indonesian or Indian, you can be assured it’s 100% Plant-based. With a seasonal menu, mainly serving products from the market in their all pink (upstairs) or all blue (downstairs) restaurant.

I had been looking forwards to this visit for a while and it did not disappoint. After inspecting the menu in advance – I know I’m not the only person that does this! – I was tempted to choose one of their burgers (currently serving Chick’n or Veg patty), as you know I love burgers, but I convinced myself I was going to try something different and opted for the Tempeh Gado Gado, instead.

Let me tell you, that was the right decision. It was a super refreshing dish for a hot summer day, and also absolutely bathed in peanuts, I love peanuts! The Tempeh was marinated and cooked to perfection, the right amount of flavour in every bite, and the portion was generous. Luckily for me, my friend ordered the Chick’n burger so I got to taste that too – I would definitely recommend either dish, and from looking at other tables, I could see the sentiment was shared across their different offerings!

To close a delicious meal I chose the Chocolate and Raspberry S’mores tart and had a couple of bites off the Crème Brûlée. Honestly they tasted as good as they looked. My recommendation would be to go with a few people and share dishes so that you can make the most of it, I saw a couple of tables doing this and I think they had they right idea.
