Cyprus

Well Cyprus is just delightful. I believe Mediterranean living has to be so much healthier purely because the quality of vegetables is superior. I don’t ever see myself eating tomatoes with such pleasure when I’m at home. But in Cyprus, I was happy to have a simple “Village Salad” for lunch.

It’s due to these wonderful veggies that finding vegan food in Cyprus was an easy task. I visited Polis, Latchi, Paphos and Larnaca along the coast of the country, eating my way through local tavernas. Although, it’s worth noting, in Polis I stayed at the Aphrodite Hotel, their lovely dinner buffet included vegan options such as chickpeas and falafels.

So if you’re wondering what my favourite plates were, here is the list (note that sometimes you might have to clarify you want your plates without the feta!)

  • Village Salad
  • Tahini dip (usually served with Pitta bread)
  • Gigantes (giant beans baked in tomato sauce)
  • Stuffed Peppers (without the cheese)
  • Vegetarian Papoutsakia (Stuffed aubergine)

Honestly, my photos don’t do this justice – I was serving myself from sharing plates which is why the portions look small 🙂
