Panamá

WOW well, I never expected to find so many plant based options as I did in Panamá City! I was lucky to have wonderful hosts who did a bit of research before I got there, so I didn’t even have to think of what I was going to eat. Every single place I went to had a decent Vegan option or it was fully Vegan – Delicious!

It was also really easy to find options in the supermarket, so if you’re looking to self-cater, you will do just fine!

I enjoyed not worrying about my next meal, it’s definitely a destination I must return to (shame about the 12 hr flight!), here is the list of restaurants I tried, all had really good food, 100% recommended!

  • Kitchen – with options for everyone, they have quite a lot of plant based dishes (bowls, sandwiches, taquitos…) perfect if you’re looking for a quick bite to eat. I had the Vegan pastrami Reuben sandwich and it could have easily fooled a meat eater! Super tasty!
  • Salva- A super cute, organic, sugar free eatery. After drinking a soothing Golden Milk, I enjoyed a generous Falafel bowl, topped with quinoa, fresh vegetables and creamy tahini. Although the menu isn’t entirely vegan, they have many options you can choose from – I’d recommend you go there for Lunch or Brunch!
  • Rock and Rolls sushi – completely vegan, absolutely delicious sushi! We tried rolls, croquettes (yum!), gyozas and bao buns. The taste was incredible and the staff were lovely!
  • The Vegan Shack – located in the old town, their menu is also completely plant based (in case the name wasn’t a giveaway). I tried both the Classic and the Attraction sliders, a generous portion of delicious home made patties!
  • Mahalo – also located in the old town, a lovely spot for outdoor dinner! You’ll have a few different options to choose from, I can recommend the Portobello Gyozas, Falafel bowl and Pad See Ew. With portions so generous you may have to get a doggie bag to take some home for later!
