I had an amazing week visiting the Scottish Highlands, an area of absolute BEAUTY! I stayed in self-catered B&B’s so I was prepared to eat mainly home-cooked meals. I needn’t have worried, there were vegan options everywhere I went, at one specific place, all the cakes were vegan… YUM!
I visited a few different places, so the locations of my recommended eateries will be slightly far from each other, still, all in areas I think you should visit!
- Black Isle Bar in Inverness: A craft-beer house in the center of the city, they have a pizza oven and a couple of options on the menu. I personally, went for the mushroom pizza, and I couldn’t recommend it enough– delicious!
- LaLe Turkish Restaurant: After a long walk, I enjoyed a wonderful-hearty meal, it was really what I needed – “Imam Bayildi” (Stuffed Aubergine in a bed of vegetables and tomato sauce)
- Cairngorms mountain Base camp café: All their cakes were vegan, seriously can’t go wrong. I tried the salted caramel brownie and carrot cake…I say this too much, but YUM!
- The Pine Marten Pub: Near Loch Morlich, you will find many vegan options to choose from. I am really predictable, so I went for the Burger!
- Balmoral Castle: A final stop on our way back home, for a quick lunch I grabbed a sandwich. To my delight they had a vegan option. Not a gourmet meal, but it’s good to know, there is always an option!
