Dukes London

Afternoon Tea

As you know, afternoon tea is my absolute favourite activity, so the quest to afternoon-tea my way through the UK continued this past weekend, when I visited Dukes London Hotel. Sitting in their drawing room I had the tastiest afternoon.  You know how it goes: 100% vegan sandwiches, sweet treats, scones and champagne… what’s not to love?!

Once I had settled in with my drinks (tea-wise I tried both the Dukes Blend and the Royal Flush blend) I started eating my sandwich assortment, I couldn’t quite decide which was my favourite, as all four were delicious, so I had a second helping to help me make my mind… overall the beetroot hummus and feta bite was number one, closely followed by the smoked aubergine with coriander. But seriously, all four were absolutely perfect.

The scones were a little bit harder than I would like on the outside, but as we all know, it’s what’s in the inside that counts, and the inside was warm and soft. The ‘clotted’ cream was tasty, almost like whipped cream-cheese with sugar, but it worked wonders for me.

I almost couldn’t finish the sweet treats, but after a few deep breaths I managed!!!

This is always my favourite part of the afternoon, so I leave it until last. The lemon drizzle slice was INCREDIBLE, it was sweet, tangy and light, with a nice little crumbliness to it. After eating the Raspberry cheese cake, so perfectly tarte I indulged in the chocolate cake bite, it was really rich and moreish, a perfect end to my feast.

To wrap up the day, I moved over to Dukes’ bar for cocktail. You might have to wait a little bit to be seated, but it’s worth it. It will complete the Dukes experience!
