Bubala

Soho

If you’re looking for a cozy and casual spot to enjoy some delicious Middle Eastern cuisine, look no further than Bubala Soho. This charming restaurant serves all veggie and vegan dishes, with a variety of flavours and textures to please any palate.

I visited Bubala Soho for lunch on a Sunday. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was buzzing. The menu had a lot of tempting options, we were a group of six so we basically ordered everything in the menu, most of it was vegan and they were sure to mention which plates weren’t.

Firstly, they brought a bowl of home-pickled cucumber and celery, promptly followed by flatbread, hummus (with a delicious harissa combination), baba ganoush and a grapefruit ezme. The flatbread was perfect for scooping up the sauces and dips, and for mopping up the last bits of flavour!

After this, they brought dish after dish, every few minutes. My absolute favourites were the Oyster mushroom skewer – a chunky delight grilled to a nice smoky flavour, drizzled with tamari and coriander seed -, the smoked Jerusalem artichokes – bathed in ras el miso -, and the falafels which I generously dipped in tahini.

As I wrote this, I was trying to choose my favourites and realised it was a hard decision. As you can see by the pictures, The dishes were well-executed, well-presented, and really yummy. The portions were generous, and I left feeling full and happy. I would recommend for anyone looking for a good vegan feast in the heart of London.
