Spending a weekend at The Victoria in Holkham Estate was a marvellous escape, enveloped in the serene beauty of the Norfolk coast. My mornings began with a delightful breakfast spread that set the tone for each blissful day. The house muesli was a perfect blend of crunchy oats, nuts, and seeds. The full vegan breakfast was hearty and satisfying, while the tofu on avocado toast with a zingy harissa was to die for—each bite a burst of flavour that left me craving for more.
The estate itself is breathtaking, nestled close to the beach and offering endless opportunities for long, rejuvenating walks. The gentle sound of the waves and the fresh sea breeze made every moment magical. The lush greenery and historic charm of the estate only added to the splendour, creating a perfect backdrop for a peaceful retreat.
Dinner at The Victoria was an equally delightful experience. The three-course meal began with courgette fritters that were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, bursting with fresh flavours. The mushroom stroganoff that followed was rich, yet perfectly balanced, offering a satisfying and comforting main course. And to top it all off, the chocolate pudding was absolutely divine—a decadent treat that melted in my mouth and left a lasting impression.
Walking around the estate was an experience in itself, with stunning views at every turn. The proximity to the beach allowed for spontaneous seaside strolls, where the long stretches of sand and gentle waves created a tranquil atmosphere. Each walk was a chance to soak in the natural beauty and reflect on the simple joys of life, making the stay even more special.
Overall, my weekend at The Victoria was a wonderful blend of relaxation, natural beauty, and exceptional vegan cuisine. The carefully crafted plant-based dishes made the experience truly unforgettable, showcasing the culinary excellence of The Victoria. Whether you’re a vegan or simply a food enthusiast, this charming estate is a must-visit for a serene and delicious getaway.
